BUSINESS CONTEXT
Clinical Trial Management System for JAEB Center for Health Research.
With every new clinical trial (study), the study team at the JAEB Center for Health Research sets up a study specific web application to be used by participating clinical sites. Site coordinators (e.g. nurse or practitioner) see study participants and access the study application to enter patient data.
WHAT IS A “DYNAMIC MENU”?
At the heart of each study set-up is a “Dynamic Menu” of available options specific to the study protocol and the patient’s data, target group an study progress.
The goal for the dynamic menu is to:
Display only menu options that are specific to the selected patient and their journey in the study.
Guide the site coordinator to the required actions and data needed during each patient’s visit.
Eliminate incorrect and incomplete data entry.
THE TASK
Current situation
The dynamic menu for each study is created by the study team and a group of developers following a highly manual and iterative process. The logic is described in a word document by the study team, coded by the development team and vigorously tested.
Future goal
Remove the study team’s dependency on the development team for creating the logic. Create a self-service “Dynamic Menu” configuration tool for non-technical study teams.

MY APPROACH AND CONTRIBUTION
Logic Audit and Analysis
I analyzed complex Word-based logic specifications from multiple studies to identify logic patterns and use cases.
Worked with the client to isolate system-defined logic from the user-defined logic for the team to further define the scope.
User-Centric Problem Solving
I socialized the audit findings with the client to validate the use cases.
I researched conditional logic UI patterns to ensure the "Logic Builder" felt intuitive for non-coders.
Created an interactive prototype using AI to help with the ideation and alignment between the client and the team.
Designed a Dynamic Menu Logic Builder concept in Figma.
Cross-functional Team Collaboration
I helped the team make sense of the logic and user needs for the Dynamic Menu Logic Builder.
I facilitated ideation workshops between the JAEB client and Cognizant developers using AI-assisted interactive prototype to bring the concept to life and align on the solution.
